The Beach was Perfect

Ms. S takes the Plunge!

Ms. S had contemplated doing a boudoir shoot for a while and finally decided to go for it!  She was celebrating an important anniversary with her significant other.  In celebration, they planned a romantic weekend getaway at Surfside!  Ms. S picked a perfect date to do her beach session, about a month before the special weekend!   Ms. S had thought about doing this for a long time and felt that she could rock a bathing suit better than lingerie!

Kudos for stretching out of the norms!

The beautiful Ms. S relayed “I felt very comfortable with Jan after reading her reviews and looking over her website a thousand times, I knew she was going to be great with me.”  At the review session, Ms. S stated, “She was not only great with me during the shoot, but the photos were breathtaking.”  Also, “I was really looking for something very PG so my kids could see them one day, and I appreciate that she worked with me in a bathing suit rather than lingerie!”  In the questionnaire clients fill out after the shoot, she wrote, “I highly recommend her to anyone considering doing a boudoir shoot. You owe it to yourself to capture a side of you that is so amazing and intimate.”

Arranging for an on location session

Setting up a shoot on location can be challenging, and probably creates a few additional costs depending on how distant the location.  Personally, I have traveled to the beach, as far as Austin.  However, I would love to schedule shoots during my travels.  Consequently, meeting new people in far off location!s!  That, to me, is the best part of traveling!  

Ms. S really wanted to shoot early in the morning, and that meant getting up very early, so I did spend the night at the Beach so made it a mini get away!  Getting up that early, not really a natural for me, but I did it!  We were on the beach by 5:30 a.m. and were rewarded with some beautiful light!  We did check the area out the evening before to select a good spot.  There are a number of beach houses on Surfside and we elected a location where those would not be in the background.

Preparation for on Location

As a precaution, we did call the City of Surfside to let them know our intention.  We were told fine, and required no permitting or anything.  In fact, they told us that if there was any sea weed in the area that we opted to shoot, to call and the city would send someone to scrape the beach!  Luckily that was not an issue.  Otherwise, besides hauling a vehicle full of props and equipment, it was very simple.  Surfside welcomes vehicles on much of the beaches.  Therefore, unloading was really a snap!
